Meredith A. Ezell, M.D.
A native of Nashville, Dr. Meredith Ezell earned her medical degree from the University of Tennessee College of Medicine in Memphis. She completed her internship at Methodist Hospital in Memphis and her residency at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Since her start in practice in 1986, Dr. Ezell has focused her career on general opthalmology, cataract surgery and laser vision correction. She is actively involved in opthalmology resident training with her work as a clinical instructor at Vanderbilt.
William G. Gates, M.D.
Dr. William Gates, a native of Louisiana, attended Louisiana State University Medical School and completed his residency in ophthalmology at Medical College of Georgia.
In 1993, he joined Summit Eye Associates and is active on the staff at Summit Surgery Center, Summit Medical Center, Northcrest Medical Center in Springfiled, TN and Vanderbilt University School of Medicine as Assistant Clinical Professor of Ophthalmology.
Dr. Gates has been recognized by the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery for his research and clinical applications of soft, flexible silicone cataract instruments. Other clinical interest include laser vision correction and vision correcting cataract lens implants, most recently the toric lens implant for astigmatism and the RESTORE implant for near vision problems.
Joshua O. Young, M.D.
A magna cum laude graduate of David Lipscomb University, Dr. Young received his medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta and completed both his internship and Ophthalmology residency at the Texas A&M Health Science Center at Scott & White Memorial Hospital in Temple, Texas. Dr. Young’s practice encompasses both adult and pediatric comprehensive eye care, including treatment of glaucoma, diabetes and anterior segment diseases. His professional interests include customizing surgical procedures that optimize his patient’s care, such as small incision cataract surgery and refractive implants, laser vision correction, and oculoplastic procedures.
Along with family and church activities with his wife, Amy, and two children, Dr. Young is also an avid mountain biker whose hobbies include water sports, scuba diving, underwater photography and travel. He has also participated in several medical mission trips to Central America to provide cataract surgery for those in need.
Lara Orton, O.D.
Dr. Lara Orton graduated with cum laude honors from David Lipscomb University in 1997, then earned her Doctor of Optometry degree with honors from the Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, TN. She specializes in comprehensive eye care, glaucoma management, pediatrics and has expertise in fitting patients with challenging prescriptions in specialty contact lenses or glasses.
Dr. Orton is an active member of the American Optometric Association and the Middle Tennessee Optometric Society where she currently serves as Secretary/Treasurer.
Her free time is devoted to her husband, Bryan, running, travel and church activities.
